Will be going on a cruise on the NCL Spirit soon. Just want to find out if meals at all restaurants are included in price of the cruise. I was told that there are certain restaurants (Steak and Japanese) that we will have to pay for meals.

Yes, there are some "alternate" restaurants, like the steakhouse, which charge an additional cover charge. These range from $10-40 per person, depending on the cruise line and the individual restaurant. (I think NCL's are $25 or less.) The regular dining room, the buffet, and at least one alternate restaurant are included in the cruise price. With "freestyle" cruising, you won't be assigned any particular table or dining time, but will instead make a reservation as you would for a restaurant at home, or give them your name and wait until a table is available.

Here's a list of the restaurants aboard the Norwegian Spirit.

The two main dining venues - Windows Restaurant and the Garden Room Restaurant - offer Continental Cuisine with some considerable variety throughout your cruise. Both offer open seating and it's in one of these two restaurants where most passengers dine most nights.

Raffles Terrace & Buffet offers always-casual dining in an always-casual atmosphere. Located near the pool, it's especially popular at lunch time.

The Trattoria offers Italian-style dining in an equally casual atmosphere.

The Blue Lagoon Café keeps its doors open 24 hours a day.

Room Service is offered around the clock.

For those willing to part with just a few dollars extra, there are three "upscale" dining venues aboard Norwegian Spirit.

Cagney's Steakhouse ($15 per person) serves prime, succulent, tender steaks, ribs and similar temptations.

Shogun Asian Restaurant ($12.50 per person)– with a nouvelle cuisine touch and its adjacent Teppanyaki Room – are equally compelling.

The Le Bistro ($20 per person) where you can sample a huge assortment of French cuisine delicacies! The charge jumps to $25 if you order the surf and turf combo.

You don't need to dine at the pay speciality restaurants if you don't wish.
