Hi cruisers,
We're taking the cruise in early August, any suggested how to go around and what to in Majorca, Barcelona...I understand that Monte Carlo is walkable..we would love to see the palace and beautiful shores, and probably try our luck in a casino. How is transportation in Majorca...?Barcelona I think we'll be taking the hop on-off buses...any info would be great - Thank you

Hi Taline, welcome to Cruise-Chat! Congratulations on your upcoming cruise. If you'll look a little further down on our main page, you will see a section entitled Europe Port Chat. It might answer some of your questions. You can use your "find" feature in the upper left hand corner and type in your ports, it will pull up all the posts made about them. Wish I could answer your questions, but have not had the pleasure of visiting those ports. I did want to welcome you aboard, however.

Best wishes and have a marvelous cruise!

The Hop on/off bus in Barcelona is a good choice. Be sure to hop off and walk up and down La Rambla street and take in all the sites.

Welcome aboard! We did this cruise on Norwegian Jade in April 2010. Monte Carlo is definitely walkable, yet be sure to wear comfortable shoes as the hills can be steep. As for Palma de Majorca, NCL runs a bus ($10 per person for the entire day, payable on the ship) from the pier into town, across a busy street from the Almudaina Palace and Catedral La Seu. We walked around town, especially enjoying the a stroll down the pretty Passeig des Born. We were too early for beach season, yet there is a public bus system that I have heard goes there. Check our Ports of Call section, as Penny suggested, as there are a couple of topics on Majorca/Mallorca/Palma beaches.

Are you embarking in Barcelona (as we did) or in Rome (Civitavecchia)?
