Just did the Panama Canal cruise on the P of A.
Food in the main dining rooms was good, but not hot! Service leaves a lot to be desired. Buffet food in Aloha Cafe was consistently cold.
I just got back from the Panama Canal Pride of America cruise and must say the food was average at best. Coffee makers never worked in the morning. Always running our of main dishes. We even had a sit down with the Food and Beverage manager. American Union Employees is the problem. They do not want to work. Just party
sorry to learn about your negative experience. When the ship was still at the yard in Bremerhaven, friends of mine living in the area already wondered about the crew's strange and uncommon attitude. When you ran into them in a bar or restaurant many had a kind of "I'm working on 'Pride of America', so kiss my feet" attitude. Too bad.
Other than to circumvent the Passenger Services Act, why did NCL think an all American Crew was a good idea? Even if they were all top notch, I would still miss being served by a United Nations of crew. It is so interesting to talk to people from other countries and learn a little about different cultures.
So now they have 2 ships with substandard food and service, and overpriced passage. Although I did notice that the cost of a 7 day Hawaii on NCL is more in line now than about 6 months ago.
My husband and I are planning to sail this ship in Sept/05, however we feel very unsecure as it is a new ship and there is not many reviews on it. somebody could give us more information about it? We are also thinking about going for the other 7 days hawaii ship Pride of Alhoa
