Lisa, you wouldn't believe what us land-locked folks have to call "seafood"! I can only buy it fresh from a very few places for home use. I always insist on smelling it before I buy. If it doesn't smell like the ocean and not like something else, I won't do it.
Sometimes, frozen fish is thawed to make people believe that it's fresh. We have wonderful freshwater fish here; Walleye, Bass, Crappie and others but I envy you for not only what is available but the freshness of the seafood.
There, I feel better now and I know what you are talking about. Now I'm hungry for pan-seared Scallops!
