Hi guys! It's been forever since I've been on here, but we're a little behind on planning our next cruise! We're hoping to go in Feb/Mar so I'm back to do research.
We originally were thinking Bermuda, but I think now we'd like to drive to New Orleans (we have friends there) and leave from there. So we're looking at Norwegian Spirit or Carnival Triumph. A cursory glance made Triumph look more appealing, but I wanted to get the experts' opinions!
Triumph hits Belize City, Honduras, Cozumel. Spirit hits Costa Maya, Guatemala, Belize City, Cozumel.
I must say that I'm more of a ship girl than a port girl, so I'm more interested in the amenities/appearance/comfort of the ship than anything. Info would be much appreciated!
Also, we were a little suspicious by the low price listed on a certain travel Web site for the NCL sailings (we usually don't book on the site, we usually use an agent, but we use the site for some initial searches). Can anyone shed any light on this? (It was like $450 for an oceanview.)
P.S. If a site admin could cross-reference this to the Carnival thread, that would be wonderful...

My wife and I cruised on NCL Spirit in March '08. We loved it. Staff was very very courteous, ship was very nice, food was great, shows were great, etc. I would highly recommend the NCL Spirit. Have not cruised on Triumph, but we want to. Let us know what you decide and give us a review when you return.
Cortney - I sailed on the NCL Spirit in Sept.08 (just before she was refurbished), she was in great shape and she has plenty of great dining options, I am booked on her again in the not to distant future. I sailed on the Triumph in June 09 and found her to be in first class shape with great meals and unusually comfortable staterooms ! I have no qualms about cruising on either ship and would use price as a major decision factor in such a case!
Just booked our #10 Platinum Cruise on Triumph for the 01/23/10 cruise! Now I'm going to keep fingers crossed for a comp upgrade if there is any such thing!

My co-worker just returned from the Spirit. He enjoyed every minute of his cruise. He said the ship was beautiful and his cabin was very large. He had an inside in the bow. He didn't like the sound of the waves hitting the bow, but he did like the size of the cabin. He loved the itinerary. Went snorkeling in Belize, went to Paradise beach in Cozumel, went on a taxi tour in Guatemala, and went outside the gate in Costa Maya and walked around. He said the food was very good and he ate mainly at the buffet. He did go to the dining room a couple of times, but preferred eating at the buffet because he was sailing solo. I'm trying to talk him into booking the Epic for next October. He said they're offering studio rooms for those sailing solo that don't spend a whole lot of time in their rooms. He couldn't compare it to the Triumph since he hasn't sailed Carnival. He loves NCL.

Congrats tn, on booking your Platinum cruise!
I've never had a comp upgrade for being Platinum. I have had many though by watching the prices and asking. Keep your fingers crossed and keep checking.
