Formal Nights on the Dawn

Just exactly how many "formal" nights are there on the Dawn for a 7 day cruise?

And what would you say the percentage is of those who do and don't dress up for it?

For a 7 day (night) cruise, there's usually only one "optional" formal night on NCL ships, including the Dawn. The percentages of those who dress up is usually around 25% to 33%.

Thanks Ron. Yikes, I was planning on bringing 2 formal gowns and a tux for my husband. Will there be any opportunity to dress up anywhere for 2 nights on the ship? I'm used to RCI and Celebrity. Frankly, I think the formal nights are kind of special and fun.

I agree with you Susan. Who wouldn't want to dress up and paint the town (or boat, in this instance - ha ha)? The problem is convincing my hubby to have the same enthusiasm as I do about it! LOL! He is all about the jeans/cackys and comfort (not that there is anything wrong with that) When he found out he couldn't wear jeans, he was crushed. It was a great excuse to get him to buy some new clothes though!!!

Anyway, just from reading so many posts on this site and other sites, I did hear from a lot of people that there are 2 formal nights to get dressed up on this ship so I think you are good to go! If I find one of those posts, I'll send it to you. Enjoy!

On seven day (night) cruises, there's usually only one optional formal night. On cruises longer than seven days, there's usually two optional formal nights.
25% to 33% dress up formally on optional formal nights. But I've seen some dress up formally on every night, celebrating a specific event/date.
You could dress up formally on every night if you so desire and not feel out of place.

I'm going for 10 nites on the Dawn in December and my gal is bringing 6 gowns-I'm taking 2 tuxs (1 black'1 white) and we will have our usual ball! On a cruise you can dress to the nines every nite-and fit right in!! Relax,enjoy and...

Wow! I'm impressed! You guys must be a lot of fun. My cruise is in a couple of weeks so I'll miss seeing your fabulous wardrobe. Have a blast; sounds like a wonderful cruise for you. I feel much better about the formal nights now. lol.
