CDBermuda, I'd love to hear any info you have on Bermuda - I'm going in September.

Hi Cort,
I love Bermuda...this will be my 5th time there. If you see nothing else... do the Horseshoe Bay Beach is a must. Rated one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. If you forget your camera you'll be kicking yourself. Walk all the way down (to the left, facing the ocean)...you'll want to see the caves. If you do only one excursion, do the Helmet Dive. It is not scary and you do not have to have any scuba diving experience. Read the info on it and make very sure you have a disposable water proof camera. Cheap..can buy them at a drug store. The coral and fish are beyong gorgeous and this is one of those things where you'll say "I cannot believe I did that!" An everlasting memory, no doubt! St George is pretty, historical, nice to take pictures, but unfortunately, since the ships no longer dock there, most of the shops are closed. The Swizzle Inn is a great place to have lunch and a Rum Swizzle....so so so yummy. The bus stops right in front of it, it's famous. One thing about Bermuda...they are very conservative. No bathing suits allowed while you walk around and never on the bus. Buses are very clean, air conditioned and easy to get around on. Bermudians use them for mush of their transportation so you must be respectful of not being all wet or sandy when you ride on them. Men are never allowed to be without a shirt on either...on or off the bus, unless you're swimming. Nice people, friendly, and they love their island. Very very expensive to eat or shop there so beware. I ran out of toothpaste. A tiny tube cost me 4 bucks. This is the first time I'm going to be on a ship docked on the other side of the island, so I'll have to get back to you about what the Dockyard is like. It's HOT in Bermuda. Even in Sept. And very humid. Expect to be able to walk around no more than a half hour before you'll feel exhausted. That's why air conditioned buses are great. Just about everywhere, it's air conditioned indoors. You won't be able to take much of a walking tour without needing to head inside to cool off.(Just remember to not walk around in a bathing suit. You must be covered.) Any questions...just ask

Thanks, that's SO helpful! I really appreciate it! I'm just curious...is the dress issue something that they tell you on the ship, or something that they actually post, or...?

I think I heard it on the ship, not sure. Seems to me when I booked the Helmet Dive excursion, that's when they told me. It's a British island, so being conservative is their way of life.
