I've never cruised during hurricane season before, and I'm leaving next week on NCL Dawn to Bermuda. Now Hurricane Danielle is developing over there...should I be worried? I know they typically substitute other ports if a storm affects the itinerary, but what would they usually substitute for Bermuda if we were supposed to be there the entire time?
Thanks!

By next week, Danielle will have passed Bermuda, so your cruise won't be impacted.
This week's cruises may be affected depending on the direction the storm takes. NCL has a Weather Alert button on its Web site (ncl.com) with updates. So far, no itinerary changes. Again, this is for Bermuda cruises departing this week (yesterday and this weekend).
As to the general question concerning where ships would go, it would also depend upon the path of the storm, along with Passenger Services Act requirements. A rerouted Bermuda cruise typically goes to Halifax and New England or south to the Bahamas. This is a rare occurrence, though. It's more common for a ship to alter its arrival and/or departure times from Bermuda.
In the worst case they will only change tha itinerary
In the realistic way, seen the number of active storms at the moment, this will be the most posible case for your cruise...
Updating something I wrote earlier. NCL has announced a couple of changes, that I just posted HERE. The Norwegian Spirit cruise that departed Boston on Friday will arrive in Bermuda on Monday instead of Sunday. Nothing yet on tomorrow's Norwegian Dawn cruise, yet as you're not leaving until next week, this won't impact you.
Not sure when you're leaving, but the systems that you may need to keep an eye on are Earl and Fiona. In the top of this thread, there is a storm update topic that Lisa started. If you click on that, you can link to the NCL site, which has a "Weather Alert" button on the home page. There, it will list, if any, itinerary changes.

Well in looking at various weather sites, the storm that I think you need to be concerned with is Tropical Storm Fiona. I assume you leave over the holiday weekend?
As it gets closer to the time you leave, check back on NCL's website. The weather alert button should be right on their homepage by the graphic on the left side.
As Lisa stated, for a Bermuda cruise, the most common change is a change in arrival and / or departure times. However, should a itinerary change be necessary, then it will head either north to New England and Canada, or south to the Bahamas.

Everyone I know is giving me gleeful hurricane updates every five seconds. I think I've learned my lesson: Cruising during hurricane season and Type A personalities do not mix!
