We are going on the spirit Oct 28 to New England/Canada. Has anyone been on this cruise? What about the dining? and, how are the balcony rooms?

I haven't sailed on a Canada-New England cruise, so I can't help you there. But I have sailed on the Norwegian Spirit.

Hi, jacquelinec, and welcome to cruise-chat.

I see from the NCL Web site that your ports of call are Halifax, Bar Harbor, Boston, and Martha's Vineyard. I live near two of those ports, and have been to all of them several times on cruises, as well. (None of these were on Norwegian Spirit, though.) We obviously enjoy them. Happy to answer any specific questions.

You've got it right with "what is the usual weather?"

Late October/early November in the Boston area is typically in the low 50s as an average high, per the Weather Channel. The Vineyard may be slightly warmer. Halifax is slightly cooler, but average lows are in the mid-30s to 40s.

This is actually my favorite time in New England. Not too warm, and not too cold, and depending upon the year, there may still be fall colors by the shore. As for what to wear, dress in layers and you'll be fine. My first 10 years or so in New England, I never owned a fall jacket -- I just layered sweaters.

i was on the spirit but not on your cruise. i found the dining to be very good. we only relly went to the windows and the garden for dinner, but went to the blue logon and bier garden often. the bier garden has very good hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, those kinds of things. for the service in the main dining rooms we found that it relly matters on the server you get. we got some waiters that were great. but some nights we found they werent as good, never bad but not as good as some.
