Balcony Cabins

We are travelling on the Norwegian Jewel. We originally booked Cabin 8526 and then were told that we had been upgraded to 8542 on the same deck. The new cabin is directly opposite the lifts - I can't understand why they say we have been upgraded. Can anyone enlighten me - is this cabin bigger? However, being opposite the lifts - is it noiser also?

The upgrade doesn't seem to be from category to category, but your new cabin is closer to amidships, which is a more desirable location. Haven't been on the Jewel, but I don't think you'll get too terribly much noise from the lifts. Probably the only time you'll notice it is during heavy disembarkation times, including port calls - or if there happens to be an especially loud passenger waiting for the lifts on your deck!

I agree with Karen. I also noticed that your old cabin might be above the main show lounge, where your new cabin is clearly not. This is much more desirable, as well.
