passport for hawaii cruise

we are relativley new to cruising - love it so far. we plan to cruise among the hawaiian islands soon on NCL and were told we need to have a passport for this. we are flying to the islands and then cruising.can anyone tell me why we need to have the passport if we are not leaving the US? not a problem - just curious.

If you are cruising on the Norwegian Wind, it will also call on Fanning Island. That visit does require a passport. Otherwise, I don't think you will need one if you are on the Pride of Aloha or America.

However, I would adcise everyone to obtain a passport at this time, as soon you will need one to go just about everywhere.
