how do you setup this for your cabin and also is it a bottle of your favorite spirt or just one drink? Don't understand cause if they set up a bottle in your room would lose alot of $ from there bars.
And yes so the thread was closed but was wondering how to do this since I'm new to crusising and don't understand all that I should, and no comment on that please LOL

I don't want to get anyone thinking I'm trying to advise anyone to do anything against the rules -- it's perfectly acceptable and something that NCL offers. I have ordered a bar set up in the past and have arranged it again for our cruise next week. What you do is call the 1-800 number that's in your pamphlet. Then you ask for the ship coordinator for your ship. (Only Monday to Friday during business hours - or you can e-mail). You ask for a bottle of whatever spirit you want. It is a litre bottle usually. They still make money because there is a mark-up on the bottle. For example, A bottle of the whisky my husband likes is usually $25.00 or something, but we pay $35.00 for the bar set up.
We think it's worth it because we have always booked a balcony cabin and enjoy having drinks while we watch the world go by. Also we aren't sneaky types and don't want to do anything illegal.
Last time, when we got into our room, our bottle was in the cupboard - they just charge it to your credit card which you give the info for when you order it.
Last time I posted about this, someone wrote back that there's no reason to do this - as the drinks aren't that expensive. That isn't the reason we do it. It is strictly because we both love having a few drinks on our balcony.
I hope this helps. I found out about it because someone else posted and let me know.
Have a great trip.

Judy, very good post and nothing what so ever wrong with such advice. I do understand the forum rule with regards to the posts that degenerate into how to get around the rules. This topic always seems to go there at some point and that's unfortunate because people sometimes don't recieve helpful advice like you just gave on the topic.
It may also be worth pointing out the fridge in the cabin is stocked, admittedly only with very small bottles of hard liquor; there is some wine and beers as well as soft drinks.
Yes you could just use the mini bar, but that defeats the purpose of the cost savings you get by ordering the bottle. If you endulge in the mini bar, you might as well by the drinks from the bar.

Wendy, no problem -- that's why we're here! (Sorry for commenting...)
Thanks for the great advice, Judy. We haven't had to order the bar set-up as we almost always receive a bon voyage gift from somebody, and the bottle lasts us the week. This is great information.
