When it rains it pours. Last weekend the Norwegian Jewel cruise was delayed because of a drydock problem in Boston. The drydock problem (a crane collapsed) has now impacted tomorrow's Norwegian Gem cruise, as the Gem entered drydock after the Jewel had left. The Norwegian Gem will not arrive at New York until 5pm on Saturday, December 11. NCL says embarkation will begin at 5 pm and the ship will leave NYC at 7 pm. Seems a bit ambitious to me but we'll see. While this departure time is only 3 hours later than originally scheduled, NCL has canceled the stop at Great Stirrup Cay. I find it hard to believe they couldn't make up 3 hours but I'll wager fuel use is a factor. Passengers will receive a credit of $100 per cabin.
The ship’s itinerary has been changed as follows:
Saturday, December 11: New York departure at 7 p.m.
Sunday, December 12: at sea
Monday, December 13: at sea
Tuesday, December 14: Orlando (Port Canaveral), FL from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Wednesday, December 15: Nassau, Bahamas from Noon to 10 p.m.
Thursday, December 16: at sea
Friday, December 17: at sea
Saturday, December 18: New York arrival at 8 a.m.
