10 DAY ALASKA 2006

Looking at the Dream and others for round trip from either Seattle or Vancouver. Any suggestions? We would fly to embarkation port, rent a car to return home. Thanks.

With the Alaska cruise market getting underway, Try to make plans asap, as this market is extremely popular. The season lasts only 4-5 months.

Hi,

I have been trying for some time. Every agent tells me that it is not open yet. We are looking at Holland America 7 days from Vancouver, Celebrity 7 day and the 10 day on Norwegian Dream from Seattle. Past cruisers on all these lines.

If I were to put your choices in order of my personal preferences: I would go with Celebrity as my first choice with HAL a close second, followed by the Dream. I know that Celebrity has just recently opened their Alaska space for next year, but I am not sure of the others.

Of course, HAL and Celebrity are premium lines and the Dream is one of NCL's older ships, it would be had to make a comparison between them. In my opinion, 7 days is plenty to see Alaska unless you are doing a cruise/tour or there is something about the 10-day itinerary that strikes you that yo wouldn't get on a 7-day.

I think I would book that ship rather than the itinerary, in this case. A lot also depends on the age group that you want to be with as a passenger mix.

Hi Tom,

We are 62 and 54. Been on 19 cruises and we just make our own fun. Ages don't matter to us. We will be going to see Alaska.

I realize Dream is older but got a good report from someone who has sailed her. The plus there is 10 days, and we love to cruise. Plus, it is from Seattle and we plan to fly there and rent a car to come home.
