Majesty (NCL)

Hubby and I (over 65) planning a cruise out of Philadelphia on the Majesty to New England/Canada in October.

Can anyone suggest a great ocean view room - no poles, runners, etc. going by the window?

This is our first cruise and we love the water!

The Majesty is a great ship, my all time favourite!

The best cabins are the owner suites on deck 9 fwd. Then you have ordinary suites on deck 9. Some of them may have an obstructed view because of the lifeboats.

On deck 8 fwd there are category CC cabins with a nice viev. That is also a very quiet part of the ship, just behind the bridge.

Since you don't want people runnning by the winow, I won't recommend cabins on deck 7.

Deck 6 has some nice category C cabins all the way fwd. If you go more aft on deck 6 there might be some noise from the casino.

Hope you'll have a great cruise on "my" ship which was my home for almost two years

Svein has given you excellent advice. I might add that you should book nothing lower than a Superior Ocean View. These are more spacious than the standard Ocean View cabins.

We've been on N. Majesty four times -- and have been in a Superior Ocean View on deck 6 (fabulous), Superior Ocean View on deck 7 (very nice, but doesn't meet your criteria), obstructed ocean view on deck 8 (eh), and Suite on deck 9 forward (our favorite). If not selecting a suite, I'd suggest the Superior Ocean View cabins on Deck 6, midway between the casino and the bow. Aside from being comfortable cabins, they are also in a convenient location.

N. Majesty also happens to be my favorite ship currently sailing. Should you book, I hope you enjoy the ship as much as we did.

I have checked out the rooms on Deck 6 (Majesty Deck) and wonder if the cabins on the front/bow - # 601 - 60? would be more wonderful than a cabin on a side of the ship?

What may not be wonderful about those forward cabins is the show lounge on the deck below them. I don't know about the soundproofing on Majesty, but when looking at cabins it is a good idea to see what is above and below your selected cabin.

It may not matter in this case.

BTW, Lisa is probably aboard the Ryndam by now and within a couple hours of leaving Vancouver for her Alaska cruise. She probably won't see your posts until she gets back home in Massachusetts in a week.

We were on the bow on the Majesty in June of this year Charleston to Bermuda. The wave action is a LOT rougher up front. We were in cabin 608 and though it is quiet up that area it was rough. Remember you are in open ocean for almost two days and it is hurricane season.
There is a lounge directly below these rooms but we didn't hear anything but apparently those across the hall in the inside cabins did hear it.

It is probably just my perception, but every photo I've ever seen of the Majesty shows the bow low in the water. I don't know for sure since I've never been on the ship. Oddly enough, my first cruise was supposed to be on this ship under it's original name "Royal Majesty" back in 1992. But things changed and our group was moved to another vessel.
