Are all the restaurants an extra charge or can you go to some as part of your cruise package? Will I want to dress up at some of the restaurants? If I don't want to pay extra for any restaurants, do I have any reason to bring dressy clothes?

Hi Mary Ann. I see from your other posts that you are going on Norwegian Jewel. There are several dining rooms and restaurants that do not impose an additional charge. Among these are the main dining rooms (Tsar's Palace, and the smaller Azura), as well as Mama's Italian Kitchen. No need to dress up for any of these.

Enjoy your cruise. Norwegian Jewel is a beautiful ship. In fact, my favorite room was Tsar's Palace.
Happy cruising!

MaryAnn First time cruiser,

the majority of the restaurants are included in your fare. Formel clothes are not required on NCL. However, at least one optional formal night will be offered during your cruise. If you don't want to participate in it (it is limited to one of the main restaurants), you can easily choose a different restaurant that night.
Best regards,

Raoul Fiebig

Resort causal attire is always appropriate aboard NCL ships. Slacks, skirts, and collared shirts are all you need.

About 30% of the passengers will dress up on Lobster night. That includes shirts with just ties, sport jackets, business suits, up to some tuxedos for men. Nice dresses, pants suits, coctail dresses, up to some formal evening gowns for women.
The rest of the passengers, that's 70%, are still dressed in resort casual on Lobster night.

It's Freestyle Cruising, and it's your choice.
