Thanks for the link, Svein. While the departure of N. Dream and my N. Majesty were anticipated, it was previously thought they'd be transfered elsewhere within Star Cruises. Pride of Aloha comes as somewhat of a surprise. She's not even ten years old yet.
It's not a surprise for NCL to lose the Pride of Aloha, after all that was an option for the Apollo buy-in. What is a surprise is how quickly Star Cruises sells her to another cruise line.
Star could use another fairly modern cruise ship about the size of the Aloha.
Maybe when they think the time arises, they can repurchase the Spirit (ex-Leo) from NCL.
With this news, by 2010 the only smaller than Panamax ships in NCL's fleet will be the Spirit, Sun, and Pride of America.
according to the full article (now available free of charge), Pullmantur is likely to buy "Pride of Aloha" with "Norwegian Dream" and "Norwegian Majesty" likely going to Louis Cruise lines.
I've sailed on both the Majesty and Dream...Nice ships but not Great.....but any ship is better than no ship at all....but sometimes Bigger isn't Better either....Happy sailing to one and all...
The Majesty isn't going to the breaker yards.
Another cruise line, apparently Louis, will sail her for many more years. Louis sails mostly Greek Islands itineraries, where the Majesty should fit nicely.
