I have been on both the Dawn(Last Fall to Bermuda) and the Gem (Jan. 08 to the Southern Caribbean). Both ships and choice of cruises are excellent! Either choice will result in a high quality adventure, however, Bermuda will be less expensive.Book either one if cost is not a problem-You will be happy!
Well, I've already been on the Gem and loved her...so I feel like I should go on a different ship, yet, I feel like there was still a ton of stuff I wanted to see on Gem! Like some of the specialty restaurants...I ended up getting sick, so I only got to two, La Cucina and the Sushi Bar...wanted to try Cagney's and Le Bistro! Are the specialty restaurants generally the same on the NCL ships, in terms of menu and quality?

Cortney - Yes, the menus and the meal quality is similar and consistent on both the Dawn and the Gem. The Dawn lacks the bowling alleys and the lounge furniture is not quite as unique in design as aboard the Gem - for the most part the two ships are very similar.
The Garden Buffet does not open into the stern in the same manner on the Dawn. The Blue Lagoon is in a different location and the Dawn features a marvelous pub "The Pearly King's" where the wii games are played. It is a great Fish and Chips place!
