Default Back from the Epic
Hi Everyone,

Just returned from the Epic - Mediterranean Cruise - July 10 to 17th. We had a pre-cruise trip to Paris and Barcelona and then the cruise. It was an amazing trip.

It was my 8th NCL cruise and I loved many things about the Epic.

The bathroom issue wasn't an issue at all for us. The curtain served its purpose and the sink was just fine. Lots of storage and the balcony was a little bigger than others we've had.

The entertainment was excellent and we did pre-book our entertainment. We used the NCL shore excursions for Florence/Pisa; Rome; Naples -- and although they were pricey, they were just excellent. Our guides were so knowlegeable and personable. The lunches they provided were also great. In Florence we actually ate at a restaurant in a palace.

No problems with embarkation or getting off at the ports or even on the last day which was surprising with so many people. Only once did we have a more challenging time getting the chairs on the pool deck we wanted. There were others available, just not in the area we wanted. Spice is a nice place to get away from all the little ones for a little while.

The restaurants were just excellent, and again, we never had a wait to be seated. We must have picked good times to eat, I guess.

We had a great room steward who tended our room very well, emptied the mini fridge, brought us robes and kept things looking great.

It was a great experience to be on such a ship as the Epic.

sinclaj...Happy to learn that you had a great cruise on the NCL Epic. We are scheduled to do the Western Med on her in early October and are very much looking forward to the cruise. NCL is a long time favorite. A week at sea on the Epic and a week in Barcelona...It doesn't get too much better than that!!

Welcome back sinclaj! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the Epic. I thought she was a fantastic ship. I had no problems with the bathroom, either. In fact, I loved the fact I could take a shower or brush my teeth while my hubby was in the other area We, too, enjoyed the entertainment more than most ships and found the food was good everywhere.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, I really enjoyed reading it! So, when and where is your next cruise? We bought the future cruise credit, so I'm going to have to figure out which ship and what itinerary pretty soon.

Glad to hear your cruise was great!

Thanks for your nice comments. Rereading my little review, I realized I may have overused the words "excellent and great" a lot. But that's really what I thought of the cruise.

Hubby and I have already booked a Caribbean for March 2012 on the Pearl. We did a cruise this past March on the Pearl and really liked it. This one has a couple different ports.

I also bought another future cruise credit and haven't figured out where that one will go yet.

I wonder where you'll decide to use yours. It is fun to make that kind of decision.

Thanks for the feedback... sounds wonderful! We did this itinerary on Norwegian Jade last year and loved it! We also have a future cruise credit now.

Lunch in a palace? Wow!!! I'll have to look up the name of the restaurant in which we had lunch on our NCL tour of Florence. It was down a staircase off one of the squares--far from a palace. Which tour was this, for future reference?
Happy cruising!

Hi Lisa,

I think the tour was called "Florence and Pisa". It was all day -- from about 7:45 until about 5 p.m. I think. I should have thought to find out the name of the place we had lunch, but the whole tour was so overwhelming with all the things we were seeing and hearing that I didn't retain a lot of it. Thank heavens for photographs. I did get a picture of the huge gold and crystal chandelier. There were stairs involved

Thanks for the Epic review, Sinclaj. Sounds like you had a wonderful time in a fantastic destination. I'm also happy to hear that the bathroom was not an issue, after reading so much hype about them online.

Are you saying that his review was so good that it was Epic? Or are you referring to the ship itself?

Just kidding! I too enjoyed the review and am considering giving NCL a try sometime in the future.

Thank you for posting!
