Project Breakaway Winning Names Are...

...um, Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway. They had 5 finalist names that were at best mediocre and they went with the worst 2 in my view.

At least they selected names that no other lines are using, as far as I know. That said, I was pulling for Norwegian Bliss as one of them. Not so sure I want to go on a ship whose name contains the word, "break," although it does fit well with the Project Breakaway name.

Breakaway makes me think of Hollywood movie props that "break away" when they come into contact with anything. I hope the ship enjoys a better fate.

Getaway is an evocative name, which, I guess, is what they were going for.

I'd like to see them recycle some older names. Nothing wrong with having another Windward or Skyward. But then they only work without the 'Norwegian' tacked on.

I agree, Dave: none of the five was that great but the two winners are the least appealing.
