Epic Ice Bar

Having just disembarked the Norwegian Epic I admit to having enjoyed one of my most delightful happenings in 57 years of cruising.....the Svedka Ice Bar aboard the Epic. Both My girlfriend and I delighted having cocktails at 17Deg F in the middle of the Meditteranean Sea! Wearing a Parka and quaffing down a nice warm vodka specialty makes for a most pleasant adventure at sea....Add on dining in a fine French Restaurant with coffee pressed thru a French Press at the table and....the Blue Man group...and You have as memorable an evening as I have ever spent at Sea!!! No wonder I have the addiction!!

Keep on Cruisin'!!!

Coffee from a French Press? Now than's something I wish Princess would pick up on.

Glad you enjoyed the cruise. I recently read a review someone complained the Ice Bar was too cold! I did a 2-nt Inaugural on the NCL EPIC but wasn't able to experience the Ice Bar. The lines were too long on the Inaugural.

Welcome back, Billy, I didn't try the ice bar as I don't like cold. I did LOVE the Epic, though. I wanted my hubby to go in and take a picture, but he didn't want to. Sounds like you had a marvelous cruise. I'd love to go on her again!

The Epic does indeed, tend to invite one back again and it likely will see us on board in the not to distant future...however our cruise schedule is quite full out into 2013 at the present time. One thing..We definitely grew to like those new wave design staterooms and the shower/commode setup was really quite practical and roomy! Sailing out of Barcelona with that city's"modernisme"archtecture carried thru beautifully with the themes and decor of the Epic...She is the queen of the harbor at Barcelona.

You know We shall returm to her...that's a fact...it is just a question of when!! With the new Breakaway Class vessels coming out in 2013 there is such a tremendous amount of variety available just with Norwegian itself...So many ships .....so many destinations ...would that We could cruise them all!!

Hi BillyBuzzy,

Oh the memories you just brought back. Coming from Canada, I'm not crazy about the cold, but my daughter and I had a great time in the ice bar on our Med cruise on the Epic this summer. The fact that it was hot as anything all day long on our tours in Italy made it that much better to cool off. The Blue Man Group entertainment was really good. We had never seen any version of it before so were very eager to see what would happen next.

Thanks for the memories
Judy

Judy...You are very welcome....the key here is: 1) Cruise often and 2)The moment You return to shore...book another cruise and....
those wonderful memories keep on happening!!
and....
Come here often.....it soothes the addiction!!(It is a lifelong affliction!)

Bon Voyage,

BillyBuzzy

I just toured the Epic this past weekend, and had lunch in La Cucina, i especially liked
the jazz club, and the room where Legends perform. They're very intimate rooms.

Even better than booking another cruise when you're back on shore, is booking another cruise while you're still on the ship, assuming you want to sail again on the same cruise line. They often offer incentives to book onboard, like onboard credit on that next cruise.

I did just that on the Epic, Sandy, now I just have to figure out where to go. I'd like to do the Bermuda itinerary, but really don't want to sail out of New York. Right now, it looks like that will be where the Breakaway is going to be in 2013.
