My wife and I have been on several cruise lines but not NCL. We are thinking of going on the Spirit out of New Orleans since it is within driving distance. Does NCL have a midnight buffet? Any input from someone who has sailed on her would be appreciated. RB
There is usually still food available late at night, either in certain areas of the ship or sometimes waiters are walking around with trays of little bites. There is sometimes a "Gala Midnight Buffet" once a week where the chefs showcase their work, and more often a big outdoor party up on the pool deck at 9pm or 10pm, including a big buffet. But as Penny said, most cruise lines have done away with the nightly midnight buffet.
The Spirit is a sweet little ship. I sailed her last year out of Boston. Unfortunately the Blue Lagoon, the 24 restaurant, tends more toward the deep fried. They did have some other choices, but they were very limited and it tends to get crowded with kids later in the evening.
I'm not sure what the latest My time dining reservation would be. It probably varies cruise to cruise/ ship to ship.
We recently sailed on The Sky four nights out of Miami. We were very happy to be able to find food all night long, from 11 pm to 5 am in the sports bar. There is food always available somewhere.
Just sailed on NCL Epic. There is some food available at/around midnight - hard old pizza, etc. They don't do the big grand buffet with ice sculptures Royal Carribean.
rbum.....We cruised aboard the NCL Sky inFeb 2010...We were able to get some very nice food in the Sports Bar well into the early hours of the morning. Enjoy...she's a great ship!!!
Loved the Spirit - sailed on her in February of this year. Seems like there's always food available, even if not at a midnight buffet, which, as others have said, seems to be a disappearing trend. We loved Spirit and Gem so much that we're going on our third consecutive NCL cruise next week. Enjoy!

I've been on 4 prior cruises (Carnival) but never on NCL. My fiance and I have decided to try Norwegian this November and will be sailing on the Sky. We are looking forward to it however I'm not sure how I will like the 'free-style' cruising because I actually enjoy being asigned a dinner table because I love to meet new people. But I'm sure we will have a great time anyway.
