I got back late last night from my 7-day on the NCL Gem and all I can say is ... WOW!
The ship is by far my favorite. We had a wonderful time ... I had absolutely no desire to return home! I will be writing up a review today, but if anyone has any specific questions, let me know! I also took like 500 photos! LOL

Cortney - Welcome back from your NCL Gem cruise! It sounds as if you throroughly enjoyed yourselves! We did the Gem January of last year and had a fantastic time. With a little luck we'll be sailing on her again out of NYC next Winter.
Hopefully you'll post your cruise review soon and we'll all be able to enjoy your photos!
Thanks, Billy! I hope to have the photos up by this evening. It's thanks to posts by you and other NCL fans that convinced us to give freestyle cruising a try. I'm so glad we did!

Welcome home, Cortney. I'm thrilled you enjoyed N. Gem. I've never been on the ship, as you might know, but was blown away by her sister N. Jewel. While it's still fresh in your mind, what were some of the highlights for you? (A quick list is fine.)
Just the whole vibe of the ship - the colors, the design, the decor...the photos I'd seen online made it look almost ugly, but no way...it's gorgeous. I also thought I wouldn't like the lack of a fixed dinner seating, but I really liked it, and I liked the fact that there were specialty options but that the dining rooms still were excellent and that the buffet was the BEST we've ever seen... The pool deck was gorgeous, there was always something going on... We just adored it!
It almost feels like a dream, it went by too fast! Don't want to go to work tomorrow!
Time to start planning for next year...

Welcome back Cortney, sounds like you had a fantastic time! I know what you mean about that work thing, always gets in the way. Hope you had a couple of sticky buns from the buffet in the morning, they were yummy on the Sky! Can't wait to see what you pick for next year!
It's funny, I had made that slideshow on my computer for my parents and then "photocast" it without even giving them a second glance... I just looked at them and laughed, thinking, "People are going to wonder why she took a pic of her sea bands...and a single conch fritter...and why she's kissing a turtle mural..." Guess I should have done a better job of whittling them down for the general public, but oh well. Enjoy our weirdness!
(The conch fritters were amazing, BTW. Cafe Skans in Nassau!)
