Haven't been on the site in a while...nice to be back. Question for all and sundry about the Dawn. We sailed on her on 3/14/04 for a 7-day. This time we're booked in cabin 11118 (Balcony category BA)...we're thrilled with this cabin because it's on the top, midships and all amongst the suites! Awesome! Anyway, as usual I'm rambling.
Here's my quesiton. With all the threads I read about booze on board you'd think all cruisers are alcoholics. However, being as we're treating ourselves to a balcony we thought it would great to be able to have an occasional night cap on the balcony. I have heard that you can get a bottle on board from the line (I'm sure at quite a premium...but it beats smuggling booze in a listerine bottle).
Has anyone ever done this? We're lovers of Bombay Safire and would be willing to pay a premium to have a bottle to enjoy a gin and tonic now and then.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also, I'm really impressed with NCL's early booking fares and when I compared to online travel agents I found that NCL's price was great and I got to pick the cabin. I'm dealing directly with NCL which is fine with me. I don't mean for one moment to undermine the excellent travel agents and agencys out there but for those of us who are travel and internet savvy this is a great way to do it. When we dealt with an agency for the last cruise it seemed like so many emails and calls went back and forth before we had all the information we needed.
That's it...thanks for listening and if anyone is on this cruise let us know.
We'd love to meet up with all...the more the merrier but since Paul and I are a gay couple it'd also be great to meet any gay and lesbian travelers as well.
Happy cruising eveyrone...can't wait until December!

Yes, you can order whatever you wish to be delivered to your cabin. It really isn't that expensive when you consider the surroundings that you are in. BTW, NCL has a very active gay clientele and features "Friends of Dorthy" meetings nightly. You should have a great time.
On our last cruise with Princess on the Daimond we found that we were able to buy a bottle of liquor thru room service. The price was cheaper than the prices in Mi. Grey Goose was $29.00 and Crown Royal was $22.00. Both are for liter bottles. Some of the passengers I talked to complained that it was too much because it was more than the prices in the duty free shop. The prices are in the services book that you will find in the room. The choice of liquor is limited. Kahlua was not available. There may not be the gin you want but there will be some variety of it.
But being on NCL the policy may be different.
We found that if you pack your liquor in a freeze bag and put it in your luggage it will usually be safe to take on board. We have never been stopped.
Thanks for your replies! I figured it was probably a pretty easy thing to do.
Tom - we did know about the "Friends of Dorothy" meetings but we found they only did them on the sea days...when we were on the 7-day Bahamas / Florida cruise. This cruise will have 4 sea days which may help us make it to a meeting.
Both times we missed out because we were having too much fun elsewhere...looked at the time and went DOH! We never wear watches on vacation and this was part of the reason for missing. No matter, we had an amazing time which is why we're ready to sail this beautiful ship again.
