Visa / Passport Requirements

I just read something that concerns me. This is what I read on another website...

"Alaska cruises are a particular concern. Almost everyone knows the U.S. requires a visa to enter, but the ship also makes one stop in Canada on most Alaska cruises, and this means they also need a Canadian visa, even if they do not plan to leave the ship. Bottom line, always check the visa requirements for any itinerary."

I checked the Canadian citizenship and immigration website and the website has a list of countries that require a Visa to visit Canada and the U.S. is not on the list.

I was under the impression that all I needed was a U.S. Passport (which I have). Is this true or do I also need a Canadian Visa for my cruise to Alaska?

HELP!! Any advice from recent Alaska cruisers would be greatly appreciated!

I'm no expert, but no Canadian citizen requires a visa to enter the U.S. and no U.S. citizen requires a visa to enter Canada. Sometimes visitors from other countries are required to have visas for either or both countries. As a Canadian, my passport is sufficient to enter the U.S. and the same is true of my American friends to enter Canada.

I wonder if that information was directed at those visitors from other countries. Just a thought.
