Bermuda excursions

Going on the Dawn on 8/23. Looking for any info on family friendly excursions in Bermuda. We are traveling with our active 8 yr old. Has anyone done the helment dive? I am a bit leary of going under water so not sure if it is for me, but don't want my family to miss out if it is worth it. Is there one beach better for sun and fun activies over another? Also, is it better to make arrangements privately or thru the cruise ship?
