Raffles, I don't know if you are kidding or not, LOL. I guess I did come on here full steam ahead, kicking butt and taking names. This whole cruise just upsets me as it was a gift from my mother, and she had a stroke on Thanksgiving and she was able to join us, only to have so many things go wrong. My heart aches for them. The only reason I am even trying to get our money back, is to give my parents something. She paid for 30 people to go, that's alot. Maybe not in Norweigian land, but in America, to me, it is a lot of money. 17 grown adults and 13 grandchildren, many of us suffered greatly. But the company, our family, being together, making best of situations, making bets on who would miss curfew out of the older kids, and the ability to be able to laugh at what a joke of a cruise we were on. I'm not so bad, my bark is worse then my bite.

So, if you find me "upbeat", good for you, you can read past my frustrations.
If you find me to be an American who is out to sue, you are mistaken. I just want my money back, is that to much to ask? And I am just asking, I am not demanding. And I live in a state where we are having very warm weather this winter, so my heart is aglow. But I think Norway is pretty cold thus the nasty remarks made by others.
Peace

If you booked this cruise through a TA, and not directly through NCL, then its the TA's responsiblity to notify you. NCL notifies all travel agencies when there is a change with itineraries or if a sailing is cancelled. Why did it take until October for you to find out if the sailing was cancelled in August?? NCL (or any cruiseline in this case) gives a certian amount of time for the agencys to notify their clients about such cancellations and also about compensation for changed airline tickets....SO....this is not a problem with NCL it is a problem with your agent...you need to take it back to them. It sounds like they were slack in getting the information to you.
I thhink Cruise specialist might be right. It might fall back to the TA. It could still be NCL's problem if they did not notify the TA in a timely manner.
I would deal with the Ta and as Gail said a local news station.
I have heard so many bad things on different forums, and from my friends, I doubt I would ever sail NCL.

Thanks for your comments. The TA has been very helpful and admitted that we were not on their initial notify list when the cancellation came through, but they somehow found us in Oct. They paid the difference in airfare (for the next cheapest flight, which was not the direct flight we had -- we now get to change planes in LAX at 12:10 am!) that NCL said they would not, and for the extra night hotel.

Since my original post, I heard again from the TA and they said that NCL again promised to pay what they owe. That was about Jan 16 and I haven't seen it yet.

I like the news idea. Interestingly enough, the local news just did a big story on that ship!

Thanks again.
