I booked a cruise (2 cabins) in June 06 for my family to hawaii for march 16 07 out of Maui. I paid in full and made ariline reservations and paid in full for them as well.
I learned in late Oct that NCL, in Augusut, cancelled that cruise and offered $150.00 pp airline rebook credit plus $50.00 cabin credit on any rebooked cruise.
After I got over being soooo mad (both about the cancellation and finding out so late and having the airfare go up by over 350.00 pp, etc etc., I contacted the travel agent who gave me the info to ask for the credit from NCL. NCL wanted proof of my costs (and rebooking on another cruise) before paying me -- I can understand that. I submitted in Oct. and never heard anything. I called in late November and was told they never got it, but they acknowledged the issue and asked me to resubmit it; it should take 2 weeks. I did submit.
I just called again (1-9-07) b/c I haven't received a letter or anything (like a check!) and they indicate that they haven't decided yet if they are going to refund me like they promised they would. And it might take another 2 to 3 weeks.
Any suggestions?? I am so frustrated I cannot even speak. The travel agency, which I thought would be difficult to deal with (they paid for the extra night hotel and some of the extra airfare b/c it took them so long to notify me) were very very good. I never thought NCL would be so bad.
You can also contact your local news station and see if they can offer you some help. You can contact the newspapers. NCL does not like negative attention brought forward about them, as they have many ships that should not be cruising, in fact, should not be anywhere near water or people. Save yourself some money and go the news route first, then, if that does not work, hire an attorney. S/He can help you and possibly come up with a class action law suit. NCL to far to greedy. If they took our money and used it to keep their ships in good repair, it would be one thing, but to keep it and not take good care of their passengers, makes me sick
If you booked this cruise through a TA, and not directly through NCL, then its the TA's responsiblity to notify you. NCL notifies all travel agencies when there is a change with itineraries or if a sailing is cancelled. Why did it take until October for you to find out if the sailing was cancelled in August?? NCL (or any cruiseline in this case) gives a certian amount of time for the agencys to notify their clients about such cancellations and also about compensation for changed airline tickets....SO....this is not a problem with NCL it is a problem with your agent...you need to take it back to them. It sounds like they were slack in getting the information to you.
Yes I agree with Nancy. My travel was holding a booking for me and called a minute a go to let me know the price increased by $50. What did your travel agent say about it? Are they fighting for you??
So sorry that happpened! Maybe you should try another cruise Line.

LOL, no, not this morning, but I have been dealing with them since the cruise. My medical equipment broke because of the electrical issues, my wheelchair is heavily damaged because of the boat not be stabilized, and just everything we went through that week. The magnitude of our experience is incredible, we almost lost a family member due to cross contamination, my husband missed an excursion because of the wake up call system not working, again because of electrical failure, one of our ports of call was cancelled; understand bad weather, but the compensation was free drinks. We paid for a drink card so that was nothing to us and we don't drink. I could go on and on. This is very well the last time my whole family will be together. The next time will be a funeral, and we might as well have had it on that boat.

Class action law suits really only make the lawyers rich.
