SuMac,
I LOVE your attitude! I was on a cruise to
Hawaii once and all sorts of unforeseen circumstances arose, causing a number of cancellations and changes. Just like you experienced, I still managed to have a great time while those around me grumbled, complained, generated petitions, etc. Negativity is quite infectious and before long even the crew was grumbling and unhappy. I was determined not to catch the "bug" and enjoy myself - which I did!

SuMac, CHEERS! Here's to drinking lemonade!!!!
Nancy

WE were never offered anything as far as a refund or anything. We even bought cruise insurance. We were told that If we chose not to go on the cruise (oct 29th) we would only get a voucher for 75% of the cruise fare that would have to be used on a future cruise. We would also have to pay a penelty for cancelling. This was 10 days before the cruise was set to sail. Our experience was horrible.

Cruise lines, and NCL aren't the only travel related businesses to have stiff cancellation fees.

For example, this web page shows the cancellation policies at Walt Disney World Resorts:

My family is booked on this cruise on 12/31. We have all been very excited about it until, while looking for alternative shore excursions, I found information regarding this ship that has me very concerned -- rocking, engines out, etc. Has this been fixed? Does anyone know any more about this issue?

Hi Terri,

Spoke with NCL yesterday and they said that the the engine is up and running, not sure if you will make Cancun, but said it will be open when we go in February. Please write back on your return and let us know how it went.

The Dream has been making three of its original itinerary ports since November 15. Many have reported approximately the same prop wash from both propellers, looks like they have finally fixed the diesel engine, and the Dream is back up to speed.
The last port, Cancun is not open yet. But it appears the Dream can make a stop at Cancun and return to Houston on time.
Have a great cruise.

My friends who went a few weeks after ours in November made it to Belize, Cosumel and Progresso. No Roatan. They had heavy winds from a tropical depression which they assumed kept them from Roatan. But I bet it was still the engine.

So Ron (or anyone else in the know) are you saying they are currently doing Cosumel, Belize and Roatan?

We are going to redo this cruise, probably in February until we get to see Belize and Roatan!
