Hi guys, I'm new to the site and to cruising. My wife and I are going to cruise on the Star may 18th 2003(25th annversary). This will be our 1st cruise. We are suppose to arrive in Honolulu around 10:30am.What is the earliest we can check in our bags at the ship... We will be staying in Honolulu 2 days after the cruise so any tips on things to do during the cruise and after will be appreciated... Great site..

Thanks..

Banjoman, have a wonderful time! My suggestions for the 2 days after your cruise - you'll have to pick & choose, but there are 3 major things to do on Oahu that I have enjoyed and would recommend: first, for relaxation, just enjoy Waikiki Beach. Stroll along it, hang out on it, etc. Second, visit Pearl Harbor and take a tour there - preferably one that includes a visit to both the Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri. Very inspiring, touching, informative - and important for everyone to see. Third, visit the Polynesian Cultural Center for a great overview of the major South Pacific cultures, taught in a fun way. It's an all-day expedition, and will require either being part of an official tour, or renting a car to get there. (FYI, it's not open Sundays.)
Whatever you choose, enjoy the Aloha spirit! http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

We're heading back to Hawaii for our 4th time in April. I would agree with everything that Karen has said, and would like to add a couple of other posibilities. Wear sneakers or sandals on the beach. The sand is HOT, and burned my feet the first time I tried it. If you're into Flee Markets, there's a fantastic one around the Aloha Bowl Stadium on Saturdays and Sundays. They have shuttle buses that drive around town that will take you out there. This also sounds terrible, but everyone that's been there agrees, Punch Bowl Crater National Cemetery is a must see. It sits in the top of a long dormant volcano, and the view is spectacular. While on Kauai, try to get a tour that will take you up to Waimea Canyon if you have the time. This in our estimation, is far nicer than the Grand Canyon. It's nowhere near as large, but the multi-colored layers make breathtaking pictures. Have fun. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo.../icon_razz.gif

Banjoman,
Earliest check-in is noon. Its the best time to arrive. Everyone else is shopping or at the beach. The Terminal is empty and you will be on the ship in about 15 minutes.
Don`t forget the Cruisecritic meeting at the Bier Garten on Monday at 6:00PM.

Bruce
