Whale watching in Cabo San Lucas

Has anyone done this? Did you see whales? What types? Did you book the ships tour or go through a private vender? Any info apresheated.

We didn't, but good friends of ours did, and loved it. We were on the same cruise -- we went on a beach excursion while they went whale watching. Their video is amazing. The whales got pretty close, and put on quite a show. They booked through the ship, so I don't have any recommendations for private excursions. BTW, we went during the month of February when the waters were a bit cooler.

Thanks for the info about whale watching. The cruise is in October so I've heard it whale watching season is over by then, bummer but I found a dolphin swim instead!

Sorry you won't be there during whale season. We did a whale-watching excursion in Cabo, booked through the ship, and it was great! Incidentally, gray whales are the ones that frequent the Cabo area in winter.

Of course a dolphin swim could be good compensation for missing whales!

I need to find out. Otherwise I will do the Dolphin swim.

Whale season in Cabo is from November or December through early March. October is too early for them to have returned in any number.
