Cell Phone Usage NCL Hawaii

Hi... I am traveling to hawaii in Sept on NCL and I am wondering if people were able to use your cell phone on board. I am assuming not in Fanning Island and on the way but mainly in between island hopping ?

My wife was recently on the Pride of Aloha while I was in Europe (12 time zones away) We were able to communicate with oe another (T Mobiel with International enabled) but only when she was on an island in a populated area. It did not work at sea and also did not work when she was in the countryside.

I called her one evening when I was in Amsterdam and caught her sitting on Waikiki Beach. It was 11pm for me and 11am for her...oh what did we do before cell phones?

For International use the GSM phones have the best chance of working. However none of them will work at sea. Cell phones have a pretty short range. If you want a phone that will work at sea you will need a satellite phone.

I had no problems with my cell in any of the ports. Didn't try it at sea - -
