Hurricane Damage

How does one get an idea of the impact made on the islands by this years hurricanes without actually going to each island web site? Thanks in advance of any info.

What hurricanes? Tropical Storm Danielle caused flooding in Jamaica which killed some people, and that has been it as far as I know.

I was just in Jamaica Oct 1-4. The only area that was really affected was Negril. Even that was almost back to normal. The resorts had some more cleaning up to do. Ocho Rios and Montego Bay are fine.

Thanks, I'm glad to hear that so many islands that depend on the tourist trade have not been harmed by major hurricanes so far this season.

I think one of them gave Bermuda some damage, too. There's something brewing out there now that is supposed to move into Mexico, which, of course, is where we're heading Saturday. Peter, the cruise lines should inform their passengers ahead of time if there is major damage. I did say "should". We went on the Dawn Princess one year, and Princess Cays was one of our ports. They didn't tell us until after we boarded the ship that Princess Cays had been cancelled due to hurricane damage. It was not a big deal to me, since I love sea days, too. But some people on board were not happy campers.

Wow Penny - just noticed your cruise ticker; Happy Sailing to YOU !! I'm sure that you will have a great cruise since the Captain and ship will head for calmer waters..I also enjoy days at sea. I heard that the Crown Princess that we will be sailing on next Feb was in Port here in New England this past Sunday..I wish I had known this as I would have taken a look at her.

Thank you so much, Peter. We're heading out tomorrow morning for Florida. I know I could make it in one day, but why get all tired out. We're staying in Ft. Lauderdale Friday night, then going to Miami Saturday morning. I can't wait to see the Epic. I'm sure she'll be unique and probably a little strange from the other ships. Her pictures look like she's wearing a hat

I'll post pictures as soon as I can on my return.

Who knows what our itinerary will be thanks to Paula, but it really doesn't matter
