We would like to go here. Cab ride? Water taxi? How much? How far?
What can we do there without going through RCI?
Can we use the pools? beach? aquarium?
Or can we buy tickets there to access these places?

Take the cab, the water taxi is not very safe. The cab ride is $4 or $5 dollars, can't remember exactly. You can buy admission to the museum. We got a tour through one of the vendors at the terminal. He got us into the aquarium and even to places we weren't supposed to go. He charged us $20 or $25/pp and took us to Atlantis and to the Queen's staircase and to a fort. We did get to see a lot of the local areas, too. There is a free beach adjacent to Atlantis (Cabbage Beach). I think you can buy a pass to use the pools, but not the water park, but not sure. I don't think they sell passes for the water park area. If you stay in the hotel across the street, you can use the facilities. Don't know if you can buy a half day room there or not. We just walked around Atlantis and the aquarium, but didn't go to the beach since we were on the tour. I have just taken a cab over and spent some time on the beach and gone back to the ship. The straw market is right near the dock. There's a Carlos n Charlies and a Senor Frog near too.

The Atlantis is a must...We go there and have a glass of ice tea and people watch...It's not cheap to eat there....They do have a casino....
We were just in Nassau in Feb. and it was very crowded (5 ships plus the Oasis which had a full ship... we were on it)....and it was a little dirty in town...lots of shopping, but way to crowded....have a great cruise..

We were in Nassau last week. Not a lot to do in the downtown area-lots of jewelry stores and t-shirt shops. There is a zoo, pretty simple, but fun for children-they can go in the bird cages and march with the flamingos. I would recommend the historical tour of Nassau ($20-25 per person). You can get on and off the bus. We did not take the tour, but wish we would have. There is so much more to see in Nassau than the jewelry stores and souvenir shops, the local neighborhoods, the poverty, etc is also a part of Nassau and I think gives tourists a better understanding of their country and culture. We took a taxi from the port to Atlantis ($11 - $5 per person and $1 for the toll). On the way back, the taxi was full so he charged everyone $4 a piece. We did not pay an admission fee at the Atlantis, we walked around the resort, went to the casino for awhile and had a latte at Starbucks. I called Atlantis ahead of time to find out which part of the resort is open to the public at no charge and there are several fast food type restaurants, the gift shops, parts of the aquarium and the casino. A couple years ago we swam at the public beach right next to the Atlantis, it was very clean. You could rent chairs, wave runners, etc at the public beach.

Thanks guys! I think we'll do just as you suggested and take the cab over to Atlantis and see what we can and go to their beach...when we want to leave to come back are there lots of cabs there at the beach?

There are tons leaving from the surrounding hotels. They sit outside the entrance, so you should have no problems. Sorry I didn't see your question, until now.

Be prepared for some chaos when going through the Nassau cruise ship terminal. They were making people arrange taxi service within the terminal last November. Taxi service back from Atlantis is easy with taxis lined up. Often times there will be taxis waiting over the hill at Cabbage Beach (beside Atlantis) as well.

Thank you so much I know there are like 4 or 5 ships in port that day! But, we'll try to do all of your suggestions. Thank you.
