Martha's Vineyard

We are cruising on Enchantment of the Seas to Martha's Vineyard in September, and the shore excursion offered by RCL (one!) looks pretty (yawn) uninspiring. Does anyone have any great experiences to share from this port?

Have never been to Matha's Vinyard via cruise ship. Have been there taking the ferry over from Wood's Hole. The island has 6 small towns. Edgartown, Vineyard Haven, Oak Bluff are probably the most common places to see. The clay cliffs ay Gay Head bring many bike riders by. Typical Cape like beaches around the island. Many wildlife refuges & lots of fishing.

WE too are going on that cruise in Sept.
And I rented bikes for the afternoon to ride to all the towns and then lunch at CoopDeVille
which was recommened by quite a few people.

Our party consists of two couples in our 50's and 60's - so we opted to rent a car at the Budget Rent a Car just a block from the tender dock. Looks like we'll just tour the island - grab some lunch somewhere. Hope it is a good cruise - we are really looking forward to seeing the Enchantment...

Steve & Karen - yes we are on the Sept 11 cruise. Flying into Boston on the 10, because we didn't like the idea on flying on 9 1 1. We are traveling with another couple - they are Jack & Karen. Maybe we will bump into you.
