WE are worried we will either miss the boat/miss our excursion..or the boat wont dock due to weather...what are the chances of this...we would rather book privately with reputable companies becuase for one it is cheaper and mostly because it is alot less people...please help ease our minds....
A lot depends on the port you are talking about. Generally, unless there is a MAJOR storm, the ships will always dock. About the only time a port might be missed is if the ocean is too rough to safely tender when their is no dock. This happens on occasion in Grand Cayman, as an example. I wouldn't worry too much about it though.
Booking your own excursions is a great way to save a LOT of money. The cruise lines tack on their own fee to every tour that they book and it is hefty. Most ports have a wide variety of tours available to everyone once they dis-embark. Just let your tour person know exactly when you need to be back on board!
