Mexican Riviera cruise escursions

I am going to add something about my cruise here...Am I wrong, or is the ports on the Mexican Riviera (Ixtapa,Manzanilla, Acapulco..) just not that exciting. I havn't seen one excursion that sounds like too much excitement! Only dinner and the cliff divers. I understand the water is not clear enough to snorkle, the beaches are rocky etc.. Don't get me wrong, I would be thrilled with 8 nights out to sea just for a vacation! I live near the Los Angeles and San Diego ports so that is where we go. When I read about the Carribean I kind of wish I was going there. Anyone want to tell me I'm wrong? I've shopped Tijuana many times since I live just a little more than an hour from there. Mexico only offers so many things to buy. Anyways, I want to say again that I'm excited about cruising don't get me wrong, I'm just having trouble finding exciting or (different) port excursions.
