Valuta - money exchange

We will go on our first cruise and would like to ask what is the best way to change money at the different ports we arrive. Do you pay things and stuff you buy with credit-card, do you use change-offices or is it possible in e.g. Cozumel and Progreso to use american dollars?

All the caribbean ports take American money both cash and credit cards. There is no reason to exchange currencies. In fact any fees that are involved it will be more expensive.
