My husband and I are going to St. Maarten and want to spend the day at Orient Beach. What's the best resort to go to where you can use facilities. We want good food,water sports and possibly a band. We just want to hang out at a nice place for the day and really enjoy the beach.

Barbara, your taxi driver will deliver you to a restaurant that pays taxi drivers to bring you there. The best way to check the various beach restaurants out is to simply walk down the beach. They are virtually right next to one another and you can wander in to check them out. Each restaurant has its own beach with lounge chairs, beach toys, etc.. Here is a hint for you. If you walk to the right facing the ocean, it becomes invreasingly clothing optional...walk to the left, less clothing optional.

How much do the taxis cost roundtrip?

Hi Barbara,
On my most recent visit to St. Martin (about a year ago)we grabbed a taxi van and it cost $3 per person.

Be aware though, that the taxi drivers will try to sell you a "tour" of the island for considerably more money. You are always better off simply negotiating point-to-point transportation on St. Maarten.
