Hi, I have heard that if you go to the port the day of sailing and that if the cruise line has rooms available that you can get on cheap and negotiate the price? is this true? we live close to the baltimore port so if we didnt get on it is only a 2 hr drive home. if any one has info can you please post or email directly? thanks in advance,,

Hi Melzee, welcome to Cruise-Chat. I'm afraid those days are long gone. I've heard people say they have done it, but I really don't believe it. Since 9/11 security is much tighter, and I don't think you could be processed that quickly. You could sign up for last minute deals with a multitude of on-line agencies or through the cruise lines directly or through your local travel agent. Best wishes and once again, welcome aboard!

Penny is right on the mark as always. The ships manifest has to be finalized and turned over to Customs prior to the morning of the cruise departure. No way to book passage or board a ship on the date of the sailing without a confirmation in advance. I understand that was once common.
