I WILL BE CRUISING ON PRINCESS TO MAZATLAN AND HAVE HEARD THAT PLAZA MACHADO IS A MUST SEE. THERE ARE NO PRINCESS EXCURSIONS TO THIS PLACE. IS THIS WORTH SEEING AND IS IT WITHIN REACH FROM THE CRUISE PORT WHICH I UNDERSTAND IS AT PENINSULA PORT ALONG AVENIDA GABRIEL LEYVA AND AVENIDA BARRAGON?

Hello pattie; the shore excursion brochure does not mention the Plaza Machado by name, but the "Old City Walking Tour" goes right through it; we did it last October when we were there on Sapphire Princess. I highly recommend the walking tour; it's a good way to get a leisurely close-up look at the old city. After the tour you have a choice of returning to the ship, or they will take you to the Golden Zone, which is great for beaches, shopping and dining. Then you can catch an open air cab back to the ship for $10.00. Here are a couple of our photos of the Plaza:

thanks so much for the info. what do you think about us trying to just go to the plaza on our own without actually taking the tour? Is it close enough to walk from the ship or do we have to take a cab? we are expecting to take the cruise tours on the other destinations but thought Mazatlan would be a good place to go it on our own. Any thoughts?

Mazatlan is very easy to get around on your own without taking a tour; the Plaza Machado is too far to walk but it is only about a 15 minute cab ride. Cabs are very easy to find everywhere.
