We will arrive in Miami 2 days before cruise (November 27/04). Should we rent a car for the 3 days or just for the 1 day, we have never been to Miami and would love to take the Everglades tour? I have read you have tolls getting out of the airport and up to $20 parking a night in downtown hotels... what has anyone else done ? I would hate to rent a car for 3 days and not really have to use it ?

Hello. My husband and I did Explorer of Seas on June 6th out of Miami. It was our 1st time in Miami. We stayed the night before and after the cruise in Miami. We stayed at the Hyatt Bayside, and I think the taxi ride from the airport was $20-25, with the toll included. Where we stayed we were able to walk to Bayside Marketplace, it was a couple streets away. Although, I saw the Holiday Inn at the "Port of Miami/Downtown" location, which was an even better location. It was much closer to Marketplace, and cruise ports. In South Beach, parking seemed a huge hassle (unless you valet), and spaces were scare, with parking meters and with lots of cruising/congestion. It is $1.25 to ride the bus, we asked a bus driver. I guess you would need a car, if you went down to the Keys, which everyone said took 1.5-3 hours, depending on how far down you went, or if you went to Fort Lauderdale, or elsewhere. So, if you haven't got a hotel yet, I would recommend the Holiday Inn I mentioned. I even told my husband, "that is where we will stay next time". Hopefully, other people can help you with some info. I hope my info helps you out. Enjoy your cruise, Lori
