Ensenada

Just back from the Radiance of the Seas, and Ensenada was a pleasant surprise. First the new pier is LONG....everyone kept saying just walk to end of the pier. Only for the fit, we were travelling with two women in their 80's, ambulatory but not ready to walk a pier like that. They did have buses available, but I managed to hire a taxi after a bit of wrangling. We were supposed to do a wine tour, but unfortunately the road had been messed up. The tour operator was very nice and informative, we mutually agreed to cancel. We ended up in the shopping district which is within a healthy walking distance from the ship. It was pleasant, clean and we felt we got good bargains. Ensenada will be forever known as the Handbag capital of Mexico for us, we bought 6! We had some lunch in a pleasant restauraunt on the street, and finished up with a Horsedrawn Carraige ride back to the ship. But not really, the ride was great about 20 minute excursion, but it was not allowed to get us back to the ship. Again the pier....we flagged down a passing bus, and after three NO's, Mexican for maybe, they let us on. Some guys on the bus, said if they didn't let us on, they were going to get off. Very sweet of them, but how can you say no to an 83 yr old on a cane ?

Glad to hear you enjoyed Ensenada. I think a good time can be had anywhere if you just look.

We liked Cabo too. We're going back there in January. This time we're going further South to Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. How did you like the food on the Radiance? I thought it was as good as it gets. I order both the prime rib and the lobster...

The food was wonderful, the service was great. My Aunt said her Prime Rib was the best she ever had. I had the second Lobster, yummy is right.

You are so right, anywhere can be good if you find the best time there. I am not a shopper, and neither is my Mother, but my Cousin and Aunt are professionals....
