To rent a car in Kona---any advise? How far is the airport from the port of Kona? Does one need a cab to the airport? Is it worth renting a car and exploring the coast north of Kona? What is the cost to rent a car in Kona?

kevin23, you don't have to go to the airport to rent a car; you can get one right in town where the tenders disembark. I don't know the cost but I think it would definitely be worthwhile to rent a car and explore on your own. That is a beautiful coastline.
