Missed Ports

What does Princess do about missed excursions if the boat has to miss a port? I was hoping some kind of refund would be a perk of booking excursions through Princess.

They will definitely refund your shore excursions money if the ship cannot make the port. Have you heard otherwise?

Nope, actually I hadn't heard at all. by the way, I appreciate all the answers you've given me over the last few months (or has it been just weeks.

I should qualify my answer to say that they will refund shore excursions that are booked with the cruise line, but not those booked independently.

Well I can tell you for certain because it happened to us recently. We were given 100 dollars per passenger deducted from our on-board account. Excursions were also refunded in full. Hope that answers your query.

Wow, 100 dollars per person PLUS excursion fees? I guess I wouldn't mind missing a port then. How come some other posters have said they only got 7 dollars a day? I am so excited about this cruise and it's 16 months away.

When I went on Carribean Princess, the private island Princess Cays was still under repairs.

So, they substituted San Juan and gave us a refund of the port charges for PC which amounted to $20 for 2 PAX.

The timing of San Juan was unfortunate (4pm-midnight) and a lot of people were disappointed. Personally, I found San Juan to be a pleasant surprise and we took a great private tour that cost us (ironically) $20.

$100 seems very generous to me! Of course it's different when a port is 'skipped' vs. being substituted. Maybe Princess figured the PAX would just spend that $100 aboard anyway.
