My Baltic cruise is coming up quickly...May 24, 2005 to be exact...HOORAY!!! I did not purchase the transfers from Princess from the hotel to the pier. We are staying at the Square Hotel in Copenhagen...does anyone know roughly how far it is to the pier and roughly how much a cab would be to there? Also from the pier to the airport? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated as we have never done a Europe/Baltic cruise before ie:shore excursions, "must see's". I am doing this with my 2 kids aged 19 and 23 on the Star Princess. Thanks!
I am not sure where the Square Hotel is located, but the pier is about 4 km from Central Station and a 10-15 minute walk from the center of town. It is about a 20 minute taxi ride from the port to the airport (15 km). Not sure of the cost, however. Obviously while in Copenhagen you will want to do Tivoli Gardens and the Christianborg and Amalienborg Palace (try to plan it around the changing of the guards) and check out the Little Mermaid at the horbor entrance.
I am leaving for a Baltic Cruise on May 19 and will be overnighting in Copenhagen on the 30th -just like you, I can't wait!!!!
Sorry it took me awhile to respond. I also got my date wrong...oops! We actually cruise out of Copenhagen on the 25th (May). Our itinerary is Stockholm, Helsinski, St. Petersburg, Warnemunde (Berlin), Gdansk, Tallin, Copenhagen. On the Sun Princess...can't wait!
You might want to check out the threads in the Ports of Call Forum - there have been some suggestions made for the ports you will be visiting. Are you planning to do ship excursions in St. Petersburg, get your own visas and do it on your own, or have you hired a private tour company?
I leave for Amsterdam in 5 days and can't wait for this cruise to get underway!
