Will be arriving on Grand Princess in St Thomas for the day. We want to rent a car. Has anyone done this recently? I am wondering if the Rental Companies will pick up and drop off at the ship? Any suggestions or recommendations are appreciated.

I have not rented a car there off a ship, but I will tell you there is a Budget Rental car place there. I used to live there and rented a car from them. The rental place is probably 10 minutes from the port... I just googled, budget rental car st. thomas and it came up... They have jeeps and cars.

Let me add that if you've never driven on St. Thomas you might want to reconsider renting a car. Tight roads, congested traffic, and hairpin turns are common, and they drive on the left side of the road as in the UK. Some curves require you to stop and honk the horn before proceeding, lest you have a head-on crash with someone coming from the other direction.

And yes, I've driven in the Virgin Islands before. http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...s/icon_eek.gif

Thanks for both responses! Dave I was told they drove on the same side as the US! That makes a big difference to us. Thanks for calling that to our attention!

I think it's actually easier to drive on the left side than it is to cross a street in St Thomas. Once behind the wheel everything seems normal to me.
