What happens to luggage on land tour portion of the trip?

We will have 2 pre-days in Vancouver, then board the ship. We will disembark in Anchorage for a week of land touring. Princess brochures states that we can each have 1 suitcase and a carryon. However, when TA called Princess, they stated there was no restriction on luggage. If they change their mind again, what happens to the remainder of our luggage while we are on the land portion of our trip? How safe is that? Will we have access to our luggage that we do bring on the land portion? I was told that we had to bring a carryon for some of the days that the luggage stayed on the train. Is this true? I am confused as to how to prepare for this. HELP, PLEASE! First time cruiser....

Spoke to TA today. Originally we were told that we could each bring 1 suitcase and 1 carryon for the land portion of the tour. When TA called to confirm, Princess rep. told her that we could bring whatever the airline permitted (which is 2 per person + carryon). Evidently they are no longer assuming the responsibility of storing luggage for passengers during the land portion of their trip.

This land portion luggage is very confusing. If you read the document that was pointed to it say that your carry-on can't be the normal size of your airplane carry-on, so what hapens to this carry-on??? How can we keep stuff that we need with us??? Plus the doc indicate that you are only allow 1 suitcase each to travel with you on the land tour and the rest gets shipped to your final destination. Very confusing. I wish that someone could get a straight answer.

THanks for the info. We will have 1 big luggage each, my wife and I, plus 1 of those carry-on with wheels. So we can take both piece of luggage with us on the land tour, but what happens to the carry-on luggage??? It's too big to fix under a seat??? Plus we need the stuff in this carry-on for our land tour. Thx.

The only thing I can think of, and we had to do this in the past, is to get smaller carry-on luggage. Maybe two small collapsable totes that are inexpensive would work. If you can put some of the items in your larger luggage possibly getting one carry-on that fits under the seat would work.

This is a problem if you take bus tours anywhere not just with Princess.

Good point, however I have been on tours in Canada and you are allow 1 big suitcase and 1 carry-on per person on all bus or train tours.

This is indeed confusing. Plus, there are conflicting reports. One time Princess will say there are limits set on the number of suitcases allowed on the land tour and the next time, "no restrictions...take whatever you want". This is one item that I hope we can get clarification on before we pack for the trip.
