Do kids attend formal night dinner, and what should they wear?

Will be on the Caribbean Princess in March, with my 10-year old son. How dressed up should he get for formal night? Alternatively, are the children's programs in gear during formal night?

Generally, kids' attire is about the same as the adults'. So for formal night, he can wear what he would wear to a nice wedding. Or, at his age, a button-down shirt and slacks will do. He can change into more comfortable clothing later on for the kids' club, which is in full operation on formal night.

Enjoy your cruise! Our son was 11 when we were on Diamond Princess last year, and loved it.
