What is considered a fair tip for room service?
|
Hi and welcome to cruise-chat.
As a minimum, I give $2 or $3 for a typical order but have gone up to $5 for a large order. But generally, a couple bucks is fair. I always bring a wad of dollar bills with me. |
I've found a good rule of thumb for my own tipping is to try to figure out what I'm ordering would cost if it were not included in my cruise fare and tip as I would for any other service. If you have a cabin for 4 and order meals for everyone it would be reasonable to provide a sizable tip but if you're odereing coffee and a danish to get you going in the morning, a couple of bucks is adequate.
One thing to note, the staff does talk among themselves. Those who don't tip, word gets out. Same with those who tip well. Want amazing service and the freshest items delivered in a timely manner? Tip well. Service is great on a ship anyway but spreading a few buck around with the staff will have a payoff. Cheers, Neil |

It always pays to leave a few extra dollar bills in the draw in case you have an unexpected delivery.
